1796

Subsequently Robert Seaver & Sons, it is founded by Joshua Seaver and located on the site of a previous store established in 1706 at today’s 741 Centre Street. Said to be the only grocery store on the Boston Post Road south of Boston until Providence, it is subsequently operated by Robert Seaver, who builds a new store closer to the street, and then by his sons. One of the longest-operating businesses in Jamaica Plain, it closes in 1928.
